It still seems hard to believe that the GOP would nominate a candidate that is so actively hostile to Social Security, public education, contraception, women, science, energy independence, the environment, etc.  But then again, the GOP nominated Barry Goldwater in 1964. Romney must feel like Mike Dukakis in 1988, as played by Jon Lovitz on SNL:  ”I can’t believe I’m losing to this guy!”
